LONG HAIR, DON'T CARE

Hello Beauties,

After months years of toying with the idea of getting hair extensions, I finally did it yesterday!

At last I found a shop in Madrid that is not expensive in comparison to all the other shops I have been to; and they also happen to have more variety of hair types than I have ever seen in any other hair shop here in Madrid. Every time I have enquired about really curly hair at other shops, they've all said it wasn't be made because it's far too high maintenance. Everyone had either straight hair, or wavy hair. This shop, does have curly hair. The other thing I noticed at a lot of the other shops I went into, is that the girls working there, tended to wear extensions themselves, but you could see the difference between their hair and their extensions far too obviously. Just looking at them was enough to make me walk away! Plus, they all had really over priced hair.

The shop I got my extensions from, is called Bilu Cosmeticos and is located on Bravo Murillo - Just in case you happen to be in Madrid. There's quite a few members of staff working there, but the nicest and most polite are the middle aged guy I saw, and the ladies at the back who do all the fitting, trimming, putting in clips and actually putting the hair on your head.

I wasn't sure what, or how much, to buy. I wasn't sure if I should get one pack, two packs, etc. In the end I just got one pack. I made sure the hair was thick from root to tip. I did tons of research on-line. And it wasn't until I found a video of a girl who had been sent hair extensions to review, where the hair was just bad, that I knew what the hair I bought shouldn't look like. The extensions the girl in the video wore, were dry and very thin. They actually made her overall hair look bad. You could clearly see the difference between her healthy hair, and the unhealthy hair extensions. The hair I had seen at the shop was nothing like that, so I decided to take the plunge!

Believe it or not, what you see me wearing on my head in the photo above, is only 100g of hair, (one pack), and it's 22" long. It looks fine and blends really well together when it's just been brushed. It's not blended anymore after a few hours, but it doesn't look too bad either. I was worried that it was going to look really fake and thin, but the hair seems to be really good quality, so it's pretty thick from 'root' to tip, meaning it looks fine in general. In fact, only two of my work colleagues noticed that I was wearing hair extensions, and none of my students commented on my overnight excessive hair growth! I still have to practise putting them in, and figuring out to style them so that they stay blended with my natural hair for longer, just until I can afford to get more hair. I kind of need to go back for maybe another 200-300g of hair at some point, but only because I want it to look much fuller. I didn't get that much hair all in one go, because that was beyond my budget. But hopefully I will get there in the not too distant future! FYI, I didn't need to get them dyed.

To say I was excited and ecstatic about them, is an understatement. I battled with my conscience before getting them. They're not cheap, even if they are cheaper than other places, and I am not rich. Hair extensions are not a life or death matter, but just knowing now, how very, very happy they made (and still make) me feel, they are worth every penny and more. You can't put a price on your happiness, and people may well judge you, but you can't let other people's judgement of you stifle your happiness. Having super long hair is something I love having, and I was never able to have growing up. I had very long hair until the age of six, and then I had it drastically cut. I was never able to really grow it out, because my mum hates long hair with a passion - both on herself and on others - so she often made me get it cut as short as possible, no matter how much short hair doesn't suit me (and makes me look older). At the same time, I was stuck in this vicious circle of heat damage from all the straightening, so the hair cuts became a need. Getting these extensions, and seeing how much I preferring the way I look with long hair, as opposed to short hair, has really brought intense joy into my life and I have no regrets about having gotten them.

ESPAÑOL:

Hola Bellezas,

(Y me hace aparentar mas edad).
